Heed and Diligence

Attachment theory tells us we need two things in life to be modeled and grow.

A secure base and a safe haven.

If you grew up LDS you imprinted on the church and its leaders because well… follow the prophet is the mantra instead of “honor thy father and mother”. (Exodus 20:12 KJV. Exodus 12:8 RE)

If you have a secure base with your parents, you know that all the world is at your fingertips and that you are capable and have the ability to achieve at a very high level.

If you have safe haven you have a place to return to when the world isn’t safe, when everything around you is breaking down. 

In the LDS cultural setting parents have voluntarily abdicated their role to the institution and voluntarily act as agents for the institution instead of as agents unto themselves. 

The institution has become the primary over the parent and voids the commandment it pretends to follow, or better put wrests it. Because the commandment is follow the prophet. Parents must get in line or they will be excommunicated the from their own personal safe haven that gives them a sense of belonging. 

People find themselves doing things may not have otherwise done when these two things are put at peril. This is why safe and trusted sources the LDS such as the series “The Saints”; that are so full historical fiction and delusion, are paraded as truth and beloved as such. It is massive cognitive dissonance that fractures the soul. 

This is another reason the church bends its ear to the world, as people cherish institutions as primary over parents, the things that comprise civil society that bend and morph over time and move away from truth become a competitive master to the LDS institution. In order to retain people they must also go in the direction of the world albeit at a slower pace so it looks as if they arent bending. But take a wide view and you see they keep up.

By engineering compulsion into the fabric of the church it has done its adherents a massive disservice that does not serve God. Amen to the priesthood of that man who would use compulsion by virtue of office to engineer an outcome.

Those leaders who advocate this give up their responsibility (that they have taken upon themselves to proclaim) to set the world aright and restore or preserve truth. In the process, they lose truth and continue the downward spiral of aligning more with the way of the world. Generationally the “truth” as they claim doesn’t resemble what truth really is. It becomes relative to the demands the institution has to compete with the world. 

As adults coming out of these traditions it is incumbent on us to finish the deconstruction and reconstruction as an independent unit or couple aligned to God. We, as parents also have a duty to guide our offspring on a path of light and truth connecting them with God. Not being replaced by institutions.

Moses 4: 3: “Wherefore, because that Satan rebelled against me, and sought to destroy the agency of man, which I, the Lord God, had given him, and also, that I should give unto him mine own power; by the power of mine Only Begotten, I caused that he should be cast down.”

The battle over our souls is a battle over that which is most precious through eternity and it is precisely our agency. 

By sacrificing agency we attempt to scapegoat the real culprit and accountability of our decisions on to someone or something else. Ultimately we are still culpable. 

When we give someone or something else claim on us by surrendering agency to them, the adversary has the power to drag us down to hell. Those who would ask for our agency and to follow them are serving that fallen angel and doing his will and thus become servants and agents unto him. When this happens those who have surrendered their will to a man give him authority and permission to subvert Gods plan of agency and lead us away from God through unbelief (believing in wrong principles). Then the sins of idolatry and priestcraft come into the discussion because these men typically ask to be paid for their preaching and set themselves up as a light and divine for money. (2 Nephi 26:20, 29. 2 Nephi 11:15,17 CE)

This is what Nephi calls it the flaxen cord and it leads them to destruction thinking that salvation comes in and of a man or institution. (2 Nephi 26:22-24. 2 Nephi 11:15-16 CE) what these men preach soothes the itching ear and men who have itching ears heap to themselves these teachers (2 Tim 4:3 KJV. 2 Tim 1:10 RE) and their comfortable edicts with their flowery language instead of seeking true messengers and verifying what they say through the spirit and scriptures. They co-opt the lords message for their own benefit.

“Behold, here is the agency of man, and here is the condemnation of man; because that which was from the beginning is plainly manifest unto them, and they receive not the light.” (D&C 93:31. T&C 93:10) You see… it is to act for itself and to go straight to God.
There are consequences of surrendering our agency to another man. “All truth is independent in that sphere in which God has placed it, to act for itself, as all intelligence also; otherwise there is no existence. Behold, here is the agency of man, and here is the condemnation of man; because that which was from the beginning is plainly manifest unto them, and they receive not the light.” (D&C 93:30. T&C 93:10)

If intelligences having truth do not act independently and make decisions and choose for themselves they have no real meaning and no real existence.  By our choices, accepting or rejecting light we exalt ourselves or condemn ourselves. There are consequences of surrendering our agency to another man.

Men use the idea of the necessity of acting in the place of God and thereby compel us to surrender agency to them, to man, instead of absolving our will to God by personal revelation. “I contend that if one man cannot understand these things but by the spirit of God, ten thousand men cannot. It is alike out of the reach of the wisdom of the learned, the tongue of the eloquent, the power of the mighty. And we shall at last have to come to this conclusion, whatever we may think of revelation, that without it we can neither know nor understand anything of God, or the Devil; and however unwilling the world may be to acknowledge this principle, it is evident from the multifarious creeds and notions concerning this matter that they understand nothing of this principle, and it is equally as plain that without a divine communication they must remain in ignorance.“ (Joseph Smith “Try the Spirits”, April 1 1842)

The concept most religions teach about agency is such that you can choose your decisions but not your consequences. This deflects from the truth of what our agency really is. 

It is independence as it operates in its own sphere. We are independent as a soul who has agency. While it is true, every action has an outcome and they are either good or bad, agency in scripture, refers to our exercising mental faculties to recognize truth , make decisions and learn from those decisions. The consequence of surrendering your agency to men or institution is spiritual death and destruction.

So much of our identity is tied to groups and institutions having foregone the blessings of worldly uncertainty and heavenly union that we haven’t been able to taste the fruits of independence and freedom in the alignment with God who would break the bands of death and hell (which life commonly looks like) and free us of the worldly cares and set us on the upward path. 

So many of us have started the deconstruction but so few of us have begun the reconstruction process that will give us at-one-ment. It’s my hope all of us can lead and allow the lord to reconstruct us and become one with HIM instead of attaching to other things.

[Update: The point of this post is to illustrate that in the same way religion has its orthodoxies and false ideas the field of psychology suffers from the same conflict of ideas and general relativism. It is not a bashing of psychology as a whole. While religion generally points to God and people in the various religions benefit from it on their journey, people can generally benefit from psychology along the same lines but need to be aware of the history of psychology and it origins and current academic environment.

If a person has a hard time negotiating the perils of truth and religious thought and belief, they going to have an equally hard time orienting themselves when embarking on a journey of healing and flourishing through psychology.]

Wilhelm Wundt’s (father of modern psychology’s primary goal was to remove the idea that relationships of consciousness and the actively organizing processes were conducted metaphysically by the means of an immortal soul or an abstract transcendental (spiritual) principle.  Effectively man is not a soul possessed of a body and spirit joined but rather a purely biological entity that has no effect other than to be acted upon by outward and chemical forces.

Psychology grew out as a body of work based on these premises removing God from our humanity and making man God himself.

The rest of the psychological world operates within a construct designed by other men that would set them selves up as Gods over the rest of the mini gods they developed through their control of the study. A major concept that was born out of grouping of men who lived within 300 miles of each other aside from William James in NY.

William James spent his life trying to explain that religious genius came as a result of religious mysticism and insanity with that thought coming from or co-located in the “great subliminal or transmarginal region”. Closely resembling the hermetic tradition but a ways off into imitation.

While he viewed God as coexistent with the world (people in the world), God only applied to these who believed and didn’t exist outside of the belief sets of religious genius outside institution and only ideas to be considered and of no material fact or overarching truths. That God existed as a mere artifact of psyche.

This denies the unending principle of the ALL. That which is knowable but unknowable and beyond all measurement, observation and quantification. It also explains that all the phenomenal world or universe is simply a Mental Creation of THE ALL, subject to the Laws of Created Things, and that the universe, as a whole, and in its parts or units, has its existence in the Mind of THE ALL, in which Mind we “live and move and have our being.” This Principle, by establishing the Mental Nature of the Universe, easily explains all of the varied mental and psychic phenomena that occupy such a large portion of the public attention, and which, without such explanation, are non-understandable and defy scientific treatment. (e.g. beyond all measurement, observation and quantification)

Modern psychology and all of its schools of thought are derived out of an echo chamber of Godlessness that attempt to remove the supernatural influences that can’t be explained, observed or quantified in its study. While other more fringe concepts were not so heartily accepted to include those of religion or mystic faith which; in times past have been labeled as mental disease necessitating repair. Even practitioners who tried to walk a middle pathway like Francis Schaefer were eventually marginalized to the outside of the accepted boundaries of the modern orthodox practices.

When he and other minds came into the study and attempted to reintroduce the concepts of a soul as existed elsewhere outside of space and time they were thrown out and marginalized. Minds including Adler who advocated teleology instead of epistemology, who looked at the human experience as one moving forward from now instead of the now being a sum of all experience doomed to unravel from supposed traumas and emotional tools. A philosophy that ascribes purpose to objects and events.  Excommunicated from the club of Freud and Jung because he challenged their orthodoxy of psychological belief of predeterminant etiologies. Even more recently we can see the orthodox psychological belief having excommunicated Jordan Peterson by stripping him of license and relegating him from not only academia but by his own government casting him out and threatening prison.

Many but not all modern practitioners that attempt belief while maintaining these theories or processes of thought ignore the fact that they are in and of themselves immersed in a counterfeit imitation. The processes of modern psychology so intermixed with theology are in and of themselves the philosophy of men mingled with scripture and essentially need to be separated from the constructs in which they reside to do any good for the religious man. The regimens and practices must be deconstructed from the accepted body of work whose foundations are so utterly putrid and rotten in their carnal and base state. Psychology doesn’t reach upward, it reaches down. Therein lies the great promise if accepted and the traditionalist view radically conformed to the notion that supernatural forces exist to suggest to the mind action and thought that don’t necessarily originate within the self.

In its current form psychology should be called the epistemology of human cerebral biology because we don’t yet have the technology or sufficient grasp on the unseen world to describe or understand the connections to the space outside our human existence. Truth is rolled up into one whole and for that you need physics and other sciences to attempt to address the human condition instead of being so narrowly focused. What we have now is tantamount to vivisection with crude tools or giving Radium infused products for heath and healing.

Modern psychology is so dangerous that it needs to be treated with great care.

Where Babylon has captured our financial system and enslaved us to its elite overseers, the orthodoxy of modern psychology has enslaved our souls to our most base and carnal instincts. 

The latter serving the former to help the victim cope with the unnatural situation we find ourselves in delivering up a false sense of agency and choice by offering a plethora of etiologies and justifications for the counterfeit we find imposed upon ourselves. 

Practitioners are trained in methodologies to get the individual to a point where they can be productive in society and be ok in their current situation or to help them modify their situation and mindset within the bounds of the system they find themselves in. Trained individuals usually train and offer “therapeutics” for compliance and control of others who would be non systemic or better put outliers who see the reality of the overarching control of the Babylonian system and want out. 

It’s unfortunate that once a professional that has dedicated many years of their life to this craft they become “aspiring men, in other words, men who had not the substance of godliness about them, perhaps undertook to handle edged tools. Children, you know, are fond of tools while they are not yet able to use them”

Evelyn Hooker and Alfred Kinsey published many “studies” that further proved psychology’s downward spiral by taking what Freud taught about sexuality as humanity’s primary driving force and built upon that shaky foundation of preference. Aldous Huxley foresaw this condition arising when he wrote about the World State with the phrase “Everyone belongs to everyone else” and the condition of society promulgating unrestricted pleasure while deriding independence as a form of control thereby eliminating dysregulation of self and society. Dysregulation being equal to self denial and inhibition. Regulation being succumbed to the basest of states and uninhibited.

CS lewis tried to defend against these behaviors (The Abolition of man) and the incessant attempts to normalize Human baseness as those without rule or tradition seeking to establish normative standards based on “instinct”or carnal impulse. Thereby justifying the carnal man. 

Psychology could be a great boon for mankind and many have achieved a great deal of help from therapists trained in its principles. They have been given coping skills but this is not a permanent solution. Psychology must not be separated from what Lewis describes as the Tao or the way that was established before man and for mankind to flourish.

If you are going to find a therapist, find one that looks to a higher power and counsels with the Lord in all their doings! Ensure that God can be a part of that relationship as most often when people look to therapy and counseling they are at their most vulnerable.

Consider Parhorans letter to Moroni. He states “We’ve been punished because of our own warring between ourselves caused by the kingmen, which resulted in so much slaughter of ourselves. We were fighting among ourselves instead of uniting our strength as we had before. We were divided by the ambitions of the kingmen for power and authority to control us. Instead of being true to the cause of our freedom and joining with us to fight against our enemies, they took up their swords to fight against us.” What if instead of swords our people are using words?

Earlier the account says this of the king men.

“When the men who were called Kingmen learned the Lamanites were coming down to battle against them, they were pleased.”

Are we pleased when we see someone we disagree with come upon hard times? Are we pleased at the possibility of the destruction of our infant society because we disagree and have had contention unto anger and disputations which eventually lead to war?

Among those who arrived here from the land of Jerusalem Anciently the false doctrines evolved from wicked priests who used office to satisfy carnal desires and slothfulness to Nehors who wanted preachers to be set up for a light to get gain and praise of man, to king men who wanted popular people to be set in power to Gadianton robbers who sought all of those things and to plunder and steal without putting in the work. All to satisfy the carnal lusts of the flesh. Unless we repent we will only devolve into more and more iniquity while justifying it all along the way. 

Repentance and humility are the keys to overcoming the world. Not adopting its philosophies. 

We will surely learn by very sad experiences if we keep warring among ourselves. The evil or as I tell my kids d’evil and his cause will permeate until we excise it from our own selves first.
