Nephi in closing his remarks to future readers at the end of his life said the following: “And now my beloved brethren, all those who are of the house of Israel, and all ye ends of the earth, I speak unto you as the voice of one crying from the dust. Farewell until that great day shall come. And you that will not partake of the goodness of God, and respect the words of the Jews, and also my words, and the words which shall proceed forth out of the mouth of the Lamb of God, behold, I bid you an everlasting farewell, for these words shall condemn you at the last day. For what I seal on earth shall be brought against you at the judgment bar, for thus hath the Lord commanded me and I must obey. Amen.” (2 Nephi 15:3 CoC)
I am led to ponder on what is being sealed against or in our favor in our day.
What has the messenger said to us who are counted with Israel that either condemns us or blesses us today? What have we listed to obey?
Has the Lord given us blessings or cursings? How have we fulfilled the commands He has given us as a people?
The Lord has said “I want my people to have understanding.” (T&C157:5) yet, “You do not yet understand the glory to be revealed unto my covenant people.” (T&C 157:44)
If we listen and obey, he has said,
“I will teach you things that have been hidden from the foundation of the world and your understanding will reach unto Heaven.” (T&C 158:16)
We have an opportunity to walk the path and put down unbelief. By mutual agreement this can be done if we humble ourselves to the dust of the earth and concede. As a people we are commanded to serve, uplift and support each other. To concede to the majority is to bring peace and understanding.
Let’s do those things and be of one heart.
